Oilmen Close Out Home Season, Sweep Rockford
Michael Steensen (4-1) pitched six and two-thirds strong innings, while five different players contributed one RBI each as NWI swept the seven-game season series with Rockford with a 5-1 win in their regular season home finale on Thursday.

Nick Bartolone had two hits including an RBI triple to right for the Oilmen, while Joe Houlihan opened the scoring with an RBI double in the second inning in the victory. The Oilmen knocked starter Brock Borgeson (0-2) out after just two and two-thirds innings as they won their fourth game in five tries.

NWI finished the regular season 19-7 at Oil City Stadium.

Playoff Picture
Tonight’s game is a big one for NWI, as they are still in the hunt for the number one seed in the playoffs. However, they must beat DuPage tonight, and they would also need the Hounds to lose tomorrow night to the Foresters. NWI would finish first thanks to a 4-3 season series win. If NWI wins tonight, but the Hounds beat Rockford tomorrow, NWI is the two-seed, while DuPage will be the one-seed.

If the Oilmen lose tonight, and Southland beats Chicago, NWI will play the Zephyrs in a make-up game of Friday’s rained-out contest for home-field advantage in the first round tomorrow, with NWI clinching home field if they win. If NWI wins OR if Southland loses tonight, NWI is assured of at least the two seed, and therefore will host Game 1 of the playoffs on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. against either Lexington or Southland, depending on which team finished third (if NWI is the two-seed) or fourth (if the Oilmen get the one-seed in the above scenario).
