For Starters
Thursday marks an important night for the Oilmen organization as the team plays its 100th game in franchise history. The Oilmen are 65-34 through the first 99 games and hold a 42-16 mark in games played at Oil City Stadium. The Oilmen also played the Hounds for the first game in franchise history, a 7-4 loss on June 1, 2012. The first 99 games have included everything from walk-off wins to heartbreaking defeats. Among the most memorable games include a 14-3 victory over Southland in the team’s first ever home game, a 22-10 win against DuPage County that marked the best offensive performance in club history, a 13-12 loss in 15-innings to DuPage County that took five hours, five minutes to complete and a 6-2 triumph over DeKalb in the clinching game of the 2012 Midwest Collegiate League Championship Series.

Inside the Oilmen
The Oilmen snapped a two-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over the Southland Vikings on Tuesday night at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. The Oilmen had never played a game decided by the final score of 2-0 in team history prior to Tuesday night. Jimmy McNamara avenged a loss from last year’s MCL Championship Series, tossing six shutout innings to earn the win. McNamara has recorded 12 strikeouts and issued no walks in 11 innings of work so far this season. Reliever Garrett Sherrell bounced back with two scoreless innings on Tuesday after allowing all six men that he faced to reach base on Sunday against Lexington. The Oilmen were scheduled to host Southland on Wednesday, but that game was postponed due to inclement weather and unplayable field conditions.

Inside the Hounds
The DuPage County Hounds are off to a 4-0 start and are in first place in the Midwest Collegiate League standings. The Hounds also started 4-0 a year ago before the Oilmen handed the Hounds their first loss of the season, 5-4 on June 8. DuPage County was scheduled to travel to Joliet on Wednesday night, but the game was postponed due to rain.

About the Matchup
The Oilmen are 9-7 all-time against the DuPage County Hounds and 5-2 when the Hounds travel to Oil City Stadium. The Oilmen dropped the first meeting of the year between the two teams 8-1 on Saturday in Lisle.

Around the League
Thursday features a full slate of games around the Midwest Collegiate League as the Joliet Admirals welcome the Lexington Snipes and the Southland Vikings clash with the Chicago Zephyrs at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. The Zephyrs are still seeking their first victory of the season. The Snipes are looking to atone for an 8-6 loss to Joliet on Tuesday, while the Admirals seek their third straight victory.
