Oilmen Travel to DuPage County Wednesday

WHITING, Ind. -- The Northwest Indiana Oilmen will look to extend their winning streak as NWI travels to DuPage County to take on the Hounds on Wednesday.

The Oilmen (2-1) will take on the Hounds (1-1-1) at the Lemont Sports Complex in Lemont, Ill. starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Northwest Indiana Oilmen are coming off a 7-1 victory against the Joliet Admirals on May 29. The two clubs met for the first time since the first round of the 2016 MCL Playoffs. Oilmen starter Blake Marks (Gardner, Ill./Lakeland CC/Lewis) dazzled on the mound in his first start with NWI, going five scoreless, scattered four hits, walking two and striking out four.

Noah Davis (Portage, Ind./Quincy), Jack Ciombor (Wheaton, Ill./Saint Joseph’s College) both roped RBI singles to give the Oilmen an early 2-0 lead. NWI was not done scoring as they tacked on two more in the fourth, Alec Olund  (Crown Point, Ind./Purdue) lined a triple to center, scoring Tyler Sroczynski (Dyer, Ind./Trinity Christian, Olund would later score after Hunter Thorn (Portage, Ind./Purdue Northwest) hit a sac fly to right to give NWI the 6-0 lead.

Oilmen reliever Tyler Laux (Chicago, Ill./Prairie View A&M) came on for his first apperance for NWI after being the team’s Designated Hitter. Laux went four innings, only allowing one earned run, walking two and striking out four.

Jake Drada would give Joliet their only run of the game when he hit an RBI single to left scoring Dominic Smith in the seventh. NWI would get that run right back in the eighth as Dashon Moore (South Holland, Ill./South Suburban) lined a single to center scoring Sroczynski.

SCOUTING THE HOUNDS
The DuPage County Hounds are coming off a 7-7 game against the Southland Vikings. The game was called due to light. Hounds starter Cameron Zunkel did his job, pitching six scoreless frames, scattering three hits, walking three and five strikeouts.

DuPage County showed their fire-power hitting the first three home runs in the Midwest Collegiate League this season. Joey Roberson smashed a home run in the fourth giving the Hounds a 2-0 lead, later in the inning, Kyle Kane homered to make it 4-0. In the eighth inning Ryan Knernschied homered to left to give DuPage the 5-2 lead.

SERIES HISTORY
The Oilmen and Hounds are tied 23-23 in their head-to-head meetings, NWI has won the two most recent meetings including a 6-4 victory in Lemont on May 28.
