Whiting, Ind. – July 5, 2022 – Seven members of the Northwest Indiana Oilmen were named to the Northern League East All-Star roster, which was released by the league office on Tuesday.
The annual midsummer All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 12 at 7:10 p.m. at Oil City Stadium.
Infielder David Marshall (DuPage / Downers Grove, Ill.), pitcher CJ Byrdak (Iowa Central CC / Homer Glenn, Ill.), pitcher Mike Schalasky (University of Indianapolis / Palos Heights, Ill.), catcher Kyle Czarnecki (Kankakee CC / Minooka, Ill.), outfielder Chris Baker (Trinity Christian / South Holland, Ill.), pitcher Matt Lelito (Toledo / St. John, Ind.) and infielder Jack Zebig (Maryville / Plainfield, Ill.) have all been named to the roster.
Baker holds a .373 batting average, has driven in 16 runs and owns a .475 on-base percentage. Zebig owns a .338 average, .451 OBP and 15 RBIs. Marshall is hitting .298 to go along with 12 RBIs and a .473 OBP. Czarnecki is hitting .256 and has driven in 16.
Byrdak possesses a microscopic ERA of 0.93 in 19 1/3 innings, while Schalasky sits at 3.52 in 23 innings of work with 27 strikeouts. Schalasky boasts a WHIP of 1.30 with opponents hitting just .239 against him. Lelito, who will not be able to pitch in the game, has an ERA of 1.87 and has 36 strikeouts against 12 walks in 24 innings spanning five starts.
The home team for the game will be the Northern League East All-Stars, comprised of players from the Northwest Indiana Oilmen, Lake County Corn Dogs and Southland Vikings. The East All-Stars will be managed by Northwest Indiana Oilmen skipper Adam Enright. The visiting team will be the Northern League West All-Stars, comprised of players from the Joliet Generals, Crestwood Panthers and Chicago American Giants.
