NWI Faces Lexington In First Round, Looks To Defend Title
With the Snipes winning four games in a row against the Zephyrs and Foresters to end the season, they were able to overtake Southland for third place, and thus will face off against the Oilmen in the first round. As NWI has home field advantage thanks to being the higher seed, they will host Game 1 and Game 3 (if necessary) at Oil City Stadium in Whiting. Game 2 will take place at Jack Horenberger Field on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL. Fans can hear all NWI Oilmen playoff games on nwioilmen.com as well as AM 1230 WJOB.

NWI was able to win the season series between the two clubs 4-3, with five of the seven games decided by three runs or less. NWI won the most recent meeting 5-2 at home on July 22nd, which clinched the season series. NWI went 3-2 against Lexington at home this season, and 1-1 in their only two meetings with the Snipes on the road.

Channeling 2012?
The Oilmen are in the playoffs again, finishing second in the MCL standings for the second year in a row. They are 4-0 in playoff games as a franchise, having swept both DuPage County and the now-defunct DeKalb County Liners last season, the latter of which in the championship round to give the Oilmen their inaugural season title.

Early Runs Send NWI To Defeat In Regular Season Finale
Brian Rodemoyer hit a three-run home run off James Hinkleman (0-3) in the first inning, and the DuPage County Hounds beat the Oilmen 6-2 on Sunday to clinch the MCL regular season title. Kenny Mahala doubled and drove in both NWI runs, while also reaching base three times in the defeat, setting up the current playoff picture.
