Whiting, Ind. – July 25, 2014 – Now in their third year in existence, the Northwest Indiana Oilmen have become perennial contenders for the Midwest Collegiate League championship.

After capturing the league title in the inaugural season of 2012 and finishing as the MCL runner up in 2013, the Oilmen are back in the postseason for the third consecutive year. Playoff baseball will make its return to Oil City Stadium on Wednesday, July 30 with Game 2 of the Midwest Collegiate League Championship starting at 7:10.

Tickets for Wednesday’s game are on sale now on NWIOilmen.com. The game will be a special “Way Back Wednesday” with all tickets available for half price. Adult tickets can be purchased for $4, while kids 12 and under will be admitted for a $2 charge. Other announcements regarding Wednesday’s game will be released in the days leading up to the game.

The Oilmen are undefeated in the Midwest Collegiate League Semifinals, with a 4-0 record leading to two MCL Championship Series berths the last two seasons. The Oilmen swept the DuPage County Hounds in 2012 before doing the same to the Lexington Snipes in 2013. Overall, the Oilmen are 6-2 all-time in the postseason, with both losses coming to Southland in last season’s championship series.

The opponent for the first-round series will be determined based on the outcome of this weekend’s MCL games. The Oilmen will face either the DuPage County Hounds or the Southland Vikings. The best-of-three series will start on the road on Tuesday, July 29. If the two teams split the first two games of the series, game three will be on the road on Thursday, July 31.
